Welcome to the Family Medallion Blog!

Welcome!

Ever notice how life seems to be racing past you more quickly all the time?

Somedays, I feel as though my life is like this speeding train... sometimes I'm a passenger, sometimes an innocent bystander watching it whizz past, and sometimes, just sometimes, I feel like I'm the one deciding where we're headed and how fast we're going to get there.

Seems like we are experiencing more choice, more flavors and more change with every passing day. Lines simply aren't as "black and white" as they were when we were kids--and family life is affected, quite possibly, more than any other element in our lives. "Blended families," social networks, urban tribes and all sorts of non-traditional realationships are becoming more prevalent and accepted support systems as we strive to adapt and change with our surroundings.

The Family Medallion® was created over 20 years ago to recognize and embrace "families" of all shapes and sizes. Originally developed by Dr. Roger Coleman to help children feel more included and accepted during the remarriage of a parent, the Family Medallion® has increasingly been used as a universal symbol of love's tolerance, endurance and forgiveness in our ever-expanding circles of life.

As a new, inexperienced blogger, I am looking forward to exploring this forum and soaking up everything I possibly can. As an insatiably curious student of human nature, I would love to hear your stories and thoughts on the meaning of family and how you find the definition changing & expanding.

I invite you to visit our website: http://www.familymedallion.com/.

Send any feedback you may have or use this as a venue to share a story about your unconventional family.
